Galaxy Defenders - Xeno-Hunter - Complete

This is the Predator Xeno-Hunter from Galaxy Defenders.

I actually managed to finish this mini last week but never got around to taking the picture.  I really enjoyed painting this mini which was part of the reason that Agent Iron was sitting around with an unfinished base for so long.  In particular, I enjoyed painting the skin and think I did a good job with it.

As I had two of the mini's, I painted one of them with blue highlights and the other with red highlights.

Naturally, I had to take a picture of the Predator Xeno-Hunter together with Dutch Agent Iron.

Galaxy Defenders - Agent Silver - Complete

This is Ripley Agent Silver from Galaxy Defenders.

Still trying to find the right balance between quality and speed.  In some regards, I'm quite happy with how this mini came out.  I am trying to do less work on highlighting and relying on a wash for shading.  The result still looks decent from a tabletop perspective but I am keen to try speeding up some more.

I did try a little experiment by adding a little bit of blue to the shading.  The hope was to make the model complementary with the Xeno-Morph model (for obvious reasons!).  However, I'm not very happy with the result.  In particular, the shirt doesn't look very good with blue in the shade areas as it looks a little odd.  I managed to hide it partially in the photo but the actual mini itself looks a little odd.

For comparison, here is Agent Silver next to the Xeno-Morph.

Galaxy Defenders - Xeno-Morph - Complete

I'm finally painting again!

Just doing some rough tabletop quality painting as I now have a mountain of minis to get through.  I figure at this point that it's more important to get through them before I start trying new techniques etc.

Below is the alien Xeno-Morph from Galaxy Defenders.  This was one of the KS sculpts and is inspired by the classic Alien from the movies.  The mini itself is done with just drybrushing and a little bit of edge highlighting at the tail.

As you can see from the photo, it's been sitting around on my table for a while - such that it's covered with random hair and dust.  :(

Galaxy Defenders - Xenobots - Complete

Finished off the Xenobots.  This is actually a really simple paint scheme which I found online but which still manages to looks very nice.

Galaxy Defenders - Spine Critter and Aracnos - Complete

I finally managed to get my Spine Critters and Aracnos sealed which means they are now finally completed!

Mentioned it before but its worth repeating - I had a lot of trouble painting these and in fact, I actually had to clean them and start from scratch at one point.  By the end, I was just looking to get them done and off the painting table.

Ultimately, even by tabletop standards, I'm not super happy with them but they are good enough for the table.

Galaxy Defenders - Xenobots - WIP

I've actually finished painting up the Aracnos and Spine Critter but haven't had a chance to seal them yet so haven't been able to take the completed picture.  In the meantime, I started work on a new set of models - the Xenobots!

Galaxy Defenders - Spine Critter and Aracnos - WIP

These are pretty much 90% finished.  I'm done with the mini itself but just need to complete the base.

Thankfully!  Honestly, I didn't enjoy painting these and, as you know, even had to completely clean the mini and start from scratch.  Almost done though!

Galaxy Defenders - Xeno-Beast - Complete

And here is the final pic of the Xeno-Beast.  As mentioned before, I spent a bit more time on the flesh tones of this mini as it seemed relatively more unique than the other aliens (with only one in the box).

Growling ...

... and snarling?

Galaxy Defenders - Xeno-Beast - WIP Part 2

Didn't get much painting done this week.  With that said, I have now almost finished with the Xeno-Beast.  All I need is to put some paint on the base and then seal it.

Is he snarling?  I think he's snarling.

Galaxy Defenders - Xeno-Beast - WIP

Moving on to some more alien miniatures from the Galaxy Defenders game.  I've actually been spending a bit more time on this mini as there is only one of them in the box - which I guess shows how nasty it is!

Big and nasty!

Galaxy Defenders - Nexus - Complete

Woot - the weather improved for a day or two and that was enough for me to get the Nexus finished.  Unfortunately, the forecast is for another cold spell.  :(

These were painted using the same quick technique that I've been using for other GD models.

That is a really BIG gun!

If nothing else, at least I'm getting better at taking these photos...

Galaxy Defenders - Nexus - WIP

Making good progress on the next set of models.  Granted, this is primarily as I'm using an extremely basic paint scheme.  Still, progress is progress!

Not sure why but these do look familiar

Galaxy Defenders - Xeno-Alpha - Complete

Wow - that break in posting ended up lasting a little longer than I had anticipated!

In the interim, I haven't actually been doing that much painting.  Which isn't to say I haven't been doing any painting - proof of which is below.  I managed to complete the Xeno-Alpha's from Galaxy Defenders.

As with other GD aliens, I used green and blue to denote the different levels of alien.

With teeth like that...

I'm guessing these aren't herbivores...

Galaxy Defenders - Xeno-Beta - Complete

Pictures of the finished Xeno-Beta below.  As with the Xeno-Greys, the colour scheme I'm using for the armour is based on the rank of the mini in question.  Green armour for the "green" aliens which are the standard ones.  Blue armour for the "blue" aliens which are a little more dangerous.

You looking at me?

No...

Galaxy Defenders - Xeno-Grey - Complete

Well, I finally managed to get the Xeno-Grey mini's sealed.  As I mentioned before, the Xeno-Grey is basically Ares Games version of the classic Grey that is prevalent in sci-fi.  It's an interesting mini although it doesn't really feel like a Grey as its a bit too tall.

Lizard eyes

Natch, I have a picture of their backside

Galaxy Defenders - Xeno-Beta - WIP

I've actually managed to finish up the Xeno-Greys.  However, I haven't sealed them yet as I wanted to finish off some more models before hitting them all with the spray.  Which also means I don't have a pic of the finished thing yet.

Instead, I managed to get started on some of the Xeno-Betas - a different type of alien from Galaxy Defenders.

A similar approach was taken to painting these

Galaxy Defenders - Xeno-Grey - WIP

Going for another change of pace as I'm painting up some sci-fi minis.  These are Ares Games version of the classic alien Grey - a staple of any creepy sci-fi show.

These are actually pretty much finished.  Due to a simple colour scheme, I was able to blow through these really quickly.  Just a little bit more work and I will call these ones complete.

Different colour scheme (blue vs green) is to represent different ranks of the Xeno-Grey.
